A jewellery boutique arranged around a travertine plinth bank, its glass vitrines set flush into the top and its pull-out displays and drawer storage built inside. The feature light overhead is ours as well, shaded in sheer linen.

The display reads as stacked travertine. The work is inside it: pull-out displays and hidden drawer storage.

A boutique for Lisa Gozlan Jewelry at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, in conjunction with Clarisa Llaneza Studio, who also drew the Square One store. The whole millwork scope was ours: the travertine plinth bank and its glass vitrines, the wall panelling in reconstituted white oak veneer with a pale stain, the plastered niche lined in travertine, the lit display niches, and the cash desk.

A designer looks at the central display twice. First it reads as simple stacked travertine; then it opens, with displays that pull out and drawer storage hidden inside. Above it hangs a feature light we made for the room, built in mixed materials with only its sheer linen shade on show.

Drawer bank

The central display is a bank of drawers faced in coursed travertine, stepping down from the counter, with a glass vitrine set flush into the top and an integrated spotlight. Inside are pull-out displays and hidden drawer storage. One structure carries stone faces, glass, and moving parts, and none of that engineering shows on the outside.

A niche in the plaster wall at Lisa Gozlan Jewelry, Yorkdale, lined in travertine that runs along the back and up one side, a brass pendant hanging in the tall arm, over a ledge with a dark sculptural vase and two flush cabinet doors.

Niche

The niche is set into the plaster wall: a custom-shaped structure finished in Venetian plaster and lined in travertine. The stone runs along the back of the display shelf and up one side, where a brass pendant hangs. Underneath, flush cabinet doors close over storage, so the same structure carries a lit display and the closed storage beneath it.

A full-height recess in the pale plaster wall at Lisa Gozlan Jewelry, Yorkdale, with stainless steel shelves gathered partway up holding dried stems and a small white vase, between the travertine drawer bank and a mirrored wall at left and pale wood panelling at right.

Shelving

A full-height recess is set into the wall as a shelving display, fitted with custom stainless steel shelves. The shelves are gathered at one height; above and below them the recess runs empty, so the cut in the wall reads before anything placed in it does.
