TKEES, Holt Renfrew Pop-Ups
× Ivan Jankovic and Ross Etherington
Pop-up fixtures for TKEES, formed on a wood skeleton and finished in textured microcement. They went to every Holt Renfrew store in Canada for two pop-up events, the second time refreshed with dark wordmarks.

Organic walls that stand on their own, with no mounts to the floor and no added supports.
Pop-up fixtures for TKEES in every Holt Renfrew store in Canada, designed in the studio by Ivan Jankovic and Ross Etherington. The fixture is a shaped back wall with curved shelves, set behind a double-pedestal table. The rear face of the wall carries custom turned pegs in solid white oak for dust bags, and the wordmark is laser cut and raised from the front.
The walls were the hard part. They are organic shapes, and each one had to stand on its own, with no mounts to the floor and no added supports. The finish is what another designer would notice first: a subtle microcement texture that works as a backdrop to the product.
Form
Each element is formed on a wood skeleton, clad in plywood and fibreglass, and coated in a textured microcement finish. The back walls, their curved shelves, and the double-pedestal tables all carry that finish, and so does the wordmark: its letters are laser cut, finished in microcement, and raised from the face of the wall.
Repeat
We made a set of units, every one built to the same size, so the pop-up could go to every Holt Renfrew store in Canada. It went out twice, for two pop-up events at different times. For the second, the units were refreshed with dark wordmarks, which is why some of the in-store photographs show a white wordmark and others a dark one.

Transit
We built a custom crate for every fixture, for safe transport and for reuse. Each unit is blanket-wrapped and braced inside its crate. A crate that can be used again suits a fixture that goes out more than once, and these did.
